The last half of class will be to review what you are learning about the founders of Sociology through short video clips. You will continue to sketch pictures/symbols and notes into your booklet as you watch. I will display these in the room... This will help you on our first test! Wednesday, September 2: Time to work on terms and finish reading Ch.1 A graded class discussion will happen in the last 30 minutes of class. Friday, September 4: Ch. (29 TOTAL; 58 points; due September 25) Friday, September 11: Launch into an overview of our chapter on culture and society. Read the first few pages silently and do 3-5 terms in class. Tuesday, September 15: Silently read pages 46-49 in the first 15 minutes of class. Class Discussion over the concept check questions. Work more on Ch. 3 terms. Begin the movie, "Wadjda" Thursday, September 17: Finish "Wadjda." Monday, September 21:: B2: Finish movie 20 minute writing activity based on Wadjda. 10 points Silently read pages 49-53 and do the concept check questions on p. 53. Hand these in before leaving class. Work on terms if you finish early. Wednesday, September 23: Read pages 53-63 today and by 3:00 p.m. send me a completed copy of the focus wheel I attached in an email this morning. There are 12 spokes on the wheel, and I need to see 12 concepts, people, events, or notable observations you made as you read. Roughly, you will dedicate a spoke in the wheel to something on every page of today's reading. TERMS DO NOT COUNT. This will be a 24 point grade in the grade book; two points per spoke. Friday September 25: Do the remaining concept check questions that appear in boxes after page 53 ( you already did those), Make sure you have definitely finished reading the whole chapter before doing this! Thursday, October 22: San Quinten documentary for the first half of operiod. Read pages 138-142 afterwards and answer the Concept Check Questions. Turn in by the end of the period. Monday, October 26: Finish documentary and complete the brief terms assignment that goes with it. B4: Because sophomores had mass today, I am giving all of you an extension on today's work until Wednesday. TERMS are due by 3:00 today. Wednesday, October 28: Begin watching Shawshank Redemption. Monday, November 2: Make sure you have read all of Ch. 7! (B2 Reading Quiz over the last 5 pages of it). Continue watching the movie. Wednesday, November 4: Open Book Practice Test to determine if we will have a test at end of next week. Friday, November 6: Nearly finish Shawshank in B2. Finish Shawshank Redemption in B4. Tuesday, November 10: Finish the practice test from last week. Begin The Green Mile in B4; conclude Shawshank in B2.
